Lindsey's Visit to CADIM

My first vocational visit was to an organization called CADIM (Comision Ayuda al Discapacitado Mental). It's a place where very low income families can bring a loved one with a mental disability to participate in educational activities, while they get a break . And it's completely free for the families! This helps mothers and fathers still be able to work and their children get to socialize with friends, while learning about things that will help them in their daily lives. Right now they have close to 20 people who come daily from 8:00 to 3:30, but their future goal is to be a place where up to 60 people with special abilities could all live together. It was an incredible visit to see the work being done and the community pulling together to help each other, and we were also able to swap some ideas for fundraising! Below you'll see a sign talking about their construction project, the main two buildings, and then a picture of all of us in the main room, about to celebrate Ivan's birthday. What a great day!
